Black Diamond Legal Investigations, LLC is a small company that provides investigative services to attorneys, corporations
and individuals, with our primary clientele being the legal profession.
Kathy Waesche, president, has extensive experience in the investigation and management of major civil and
criminal cases, including several high profile cases. She has been involved in the legal field since 1974. Prior to starting
her own company in 1995, she was a paralegal for approximately 17 years for the Denver law firm of Ireland,
Stapleton, working in the areas of civil litigation, real estate and land use. Prior to that, she worked with attorneys in
the field of child abuse and neglect. Kathy received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee
and earned a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado at Denver, with emphasis
on environmental planning. She has received additional special training in interviewing and interrogation (having completed
the John Reid course), criminal justice and linguistic statement analysis technique.
Kathy has a thorough knowledge of legal and legislative systems, familiarity with rules of evidence, attorney
ethics, and is a highly skilled interviewer and report writer. She is familiar with current legislation affecting the investigative
profession, particularly privacy issues.
Kathy is a past President and Chairman of the Board of the Professional Private Investigators Association
of Colorado and a member of the National Association of Legal Investigators, having served on the legislative committee as
the legislative representative for Colorado. She is also a member of the Association of Independent Information Professionals,
the Colorado Lawyers’ Committee, Hate Violence Task Force and served as a volunteer victim advocate with the Douglas
County Sheriff’s Office for four years. She holds a private detective’s license from the State of Kansas and is
a certified environmental investigator.
Kathy is an avid windsurfer, snowboarder and triathlete. She also earned a first degree black belt in tae
kwon do and was a tae kwon do instructor for several years.
